Good Morning Gentlemen

             I hope that these classes are proving to be fruitful for you all and the learning outcomes are well achieved.

              Before we move on to today’s task, here are the learning objectives for today’s blog. These objectives will be achieved by assessing you on the basis of tasks given below.

·         distinguish between positive and negative opinions about interviews
·         explain the reasons behind Umberto Eco’s literary merit

           This blog contains three tasks. You are to do all these tasks in your English notebooks.

Task 1

Q9. Umberto contradicts Mukund, his interviewer, by saying though he may impress as doing many things, he is always doing the same thing. What is that one thing he is always doing?

  Q10. Did Umberto Eco consider himself a novelist first or an academic scholar?

There will be no class on Monday as the country celebrates Mahavir Jayanti.  So you have good two days to relax and complete your work.

Q1. What opinion do you form of Umberto Eco? Does he like being interviewed? Give reasons in support of your answer from the text.

Q2. Contrast the distinctive style of Eco’s writing with that of other academic writers.

Q3. Explain how some celebrity writers do not like being interviewed.

  Q4. Describe the reason behind the huge success of the novel “The Name of the Rose.”
